Emotive Reflections

My particular philosophy about photography, is being able to impart the emotion of the scene, to the viewer. To be quiet in image making, calm and meditative. Reflective and introspective.

My own floral photography is more than pictures of botanical specimens! I am trying to express the pure essence and tranquility of the bloom. Isolating sensual lines and bold, vibrant colours. Naturally abstracting these elements into a single composition. It is however, possible that this detracts from the identification of the particular bloom. But doesn't render it any less beautiful.

Nature inspires us with the colour, form, texture, light and lines, we could ever desire. Whether we be Photographers, Artists or Designers. So reducing the perceptual field of view, can enlighten us to a new awareness of the world at our feet. All of us can gain a new understanding of nature, isolating elements in abstract compositions.

Our natural landscape is more ancient than any megalithic structure, or religion. So for many of us, this is truly heaven on earth. We can all find tranquility at the waters edge. A sensual, ethereal experience and a stress less time for gentle reflection. Nature is in constant flux and is very rarely static. So we have to understand that time, is constantly affecting every atom within ourselves and our surroundings. I can only hope to reflect a part of its emotive power.
